The Woods
History:
The Woods was originally part of a 200 acre farm lot granted to John McDougall in 1803. The original homesteaders were the Mulholland and Mcbride families. In 1864 a county school was established on the southeast corner of Bathurst and Glencairn. This part of Toronto remained largely rural until the 1930s, present day neighbourhood was developed
Overview:
The Woods is a picturesque neighbourhood situated in a bucolic ravine setting. This is one of Toronto’s most exclusive neighbourhoods with beautiful homes on premium lots. The Woods is a peaceful and tranquil neighbourhood with twisting and winding tree-lined streets. The streets do not have any sidewalks which adds a rustic charm and ambiance to the neighbourhood. Bathurst Street, a busy arterial road, forms the  western boundary of this neighbourhood, providing convenient and easy access to downtown Toronto.
Lifestyle:
The Woods residents have a plethora of nearby shopping options including: the many stores, coffee shops and restaurants along The Eglinton Way, the foodie destinations and grocery shops  on Upper Avenue, and the shops at Lawrence Plaza, located at the northwest corner of Bathurst and Lawrence.
Homes:
The Woods features beautiful large homes on premium lots with lots of trees. The original housing stock dates from the 1930s and 40s and features a mix of Georgian and Tudor styles. The new custom builds in this neighbourhood are mostly transitional in style with built-in garages and lavish landscaping. Many of the larger stone mansions in this neighbourhood back onto heavily treed ravine lots.
Recreation:
The Cortleigh Parkette is a quiet greenspace in the interior of the neighbourhood that includes a paved walking path and a children’s playground. North Preparatory Junior Public School located at the south end of the neighbourhood has a large and well used sports field that hosts local soccer leagues. There is a paved running track that circles the sportsfield  that is used for a variety of recreational pursuits.
