Limehouse
History:
In the latter half of the 1800s Limehouse was a busy industrial centre with lime kilns operating in the escarpment valley. The ruins of these former kilns have been preserved as historical markers along the Bruce Trail which runs through Limehouse.
Overview:
Limehouse is a small rural hamlet located in a bucolic valley setting surrounded by farmland. This hamlet is centred at Fifth Line and 22 Side Road. Limehouse is a welcoming and enchanting community. Limehouse landmarks include the Limehouse public school, a historic memorial hall, and the Limestone conservation area where you can explore the historic ruins of the Limestone Kilns. While there are no shopping outlets in Limehouse; the Town of Acton is just a few minutes north of here and Georgetown is a few minutes south.
Lifestyle:
While Limehouse does not have any shopping options directly within the community there are a plethora of shopping options in the Town of Acton just a short drive north and Georgetown just a few minutes south of Limehouse. Toronto Premium Outlets is a popular outlet mall located just 15 minutes from Limehouse at 13850 Steeles Ave W.
Homes:
The housing stock in Limehouse is concentrated on just a handful of rural country roads. The houses are well set back from the road and nicely spaced apart. Housing styles include ranch brick bungalows and cottage style frame houses. There are also a handful of new custom homes which take advantage of the wonderful vistas that define the local landscape.
Recreation:
The Bruce Trail runs through Limehouse which is perfect for hiking and nature walks. The Greenbelt Route provides cyclists with a on-road street course that offers beautiful views of the farms and the countryside surrounding LImehouse. There are also many golf courses in the area. The Trafalgar Sports Park has numerous soccer fields and baseball diamonds that are well used by local youth sports organizations.
