Tansley Woods
History:
Originally known as St. Ann’s, the name of the community was officially changed to Tansley in 1885 when the post office opened. Tansley was a rural farming community right up until the 1990s when development of the present day neighbourhood began. Most of the development took place in the 2000s.
Overview:
Tansley Woods is a newer neighbourhood located in the middle of Burlington. It is bordered on the south by an industrial park and on the east by a huge greenspace known as Tansley Woods. Neighbourhood landmarks include: The Village of Tansley Woods retirement residences, Joseph Brant Hospital Wellness Centre, Trinity Christian School and Tansley Park. This is the neighbourhood of the bungaloft. They are everywhere. The bungaloft layout appeals to a wide variety of homebuyers in particular the many empty nesters and seniors that live within this neighbourhood.
Homes:
Tansley Woods houses were built in the 2000s. These are mostly bungalofts and townhomes.. The houses in the east part of the neighbourhood enjoy nice vistas of Tansley Woods. The Village of Tansely Woods is a large retirement residence and neighbourhood landmark.
Recreation:
Tansley Woods Par has a remodelled playground with rubber safety surface and accessible shaded seating area. This park also has a sports field, basketball court, three pickleball courts, and a paved walking trail.
Arts:
The Art Gallery of Burlington is located at 1333 Lakeshore Road in the heart of Burlington’s downtown waterfront. This contemporary gallery is a  multi-faceted centre that is the home base for 7 different artists guilds operating within the City of Burlington. The AGB also provides studio space for local artists, as well as hosting a myriad of exhibitions, lectures and events and running school programs. The AGB is especially known for its ceramic collection.
The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is a city landmark and source of civic pride. This landmark centre occupies a high profile position in the downtown core at the corner of Locust and Elgin Streets. The Burlington Performing Arts Centre is comprised of two theatres; the larger Main Theatre has world-class acoustics and an orchestra pit. It is ideal for theatrical and musical performances and seats 718 people. The more intimate Community Theatre is ideal for smaller scale productions. It seats 225 people.
