Overview

Halton Region comprises the city of Burlington and the towns of Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills. This region can trace its origins back to 1853 when it was known as Halton County. The railway has always played an important role in Halton’s growth. That is still true today as the Go Transit railway connects commuters all over the Greater Toronto Area. The municipalities of Oakville and Burlington straddle the shores of Lake Ontario and comprise the bulk of Halton’s urban area. Milton is one of the fastest growing municipalities in the GTA. The Town of Halton Hills has a rural ambiance and charm with quaint villages and towns.
