History:
King City was originally known as Springhill a reference to the many natural springs that flow through this rolling countryside. Springhill was an amalgamation of a number of hamlets in King Township including: Springhill, Eversley, Kinghorn and Laskay. When the railway arrived in 1853 there was some confusion with mail delivery as the Springhill name was already being used in Nova Scotia. So the name was changed to King City. The King City railway station is the oldest surviving railway station in Canada ! It has been moved from its original location to the King Township Museum located at 2920 King Road, just East of Jane Street.
