Baldwin
History:
Baldwin emerged as a hamlet in the early 1800s thanks to a prosperous mill that operated on the banks of the Black River. The first two Baldwin Mills were destroyed by fire. The third mill still was relocated from Keswick in 1879 by its owner William Heise. (It ceased operations in 1968 but is still intact and a neighbourhood landmark.) Baldwin reached its zenith in the late 1800s when it was a stop on the Lake Simcoe Junction Railway.

Homes:
There are some houses off Highway 48 and the bisecting concession roads however most of the houses are situated in-town along the Black River which meanders through the neighbourhood. There are a handful of impressive heritage homes along the river along with more modest ranch-style homes from the 1950s, 60s and 70s. The lots are spacious and well treed however they lack city services with no gas lines and no sewers and no cable or high-speed internet. Water is drawn from wells.
