East Credit
History:
East Credit was once considered to be a part of the Streetsville neighbourhood to the north. It was largely farmland until 1980 when the Brittania landfill opened off Terry Fox Way south of Brittania Road West. The landfill was closed in 2002. It was replaced by the BraeBen Golf Course, which features an 18 hole championship course and a 9 hole par 3 course.
Overview:
East Credit is suburbs personified. It is lined with row upon row of subdivisions lined with modest brick family homes punctuated by double car garages out front. The area is criss-crossed by major highways and arterial roadways and features landmarks such as the Heartland Town Centre – one of Canada’s largest malls, and the River Grove Community Centre that features an indoor pool and gymnasium and community meeting rooms that feature a myriad of programs.
Lifestyle:
Heartland Town Centre, one of Canada’s largest and most successful Power Centres offers over 180 stores and services for the ultimate shopping experience. This shopping landmark is located at the corner of Mavis and Brittania Road.
There are also a handful of small neighbourhood shopping plazas dispersed throughout this neighbourhood. Some of the food shops and restaurants at these plazas reflect the cultural diversity of this neighbourhood.
Homes:
East Credit homes were built mostly in the 1990s and 2000s. These are typical two storey detached and semi-detached subdivision style homes with brick veneers, and front facing gable roofs that look out over double car garages. The streetscapes are curvi-liner and winding, either terminating with a cul de sac or spilling out to the main arterial roadways.
