Castlemore was a rural hamlet that emerged in the mid 1800s. It was situated along The Gore Road. Castlemore had a post office, a general store, a blacksmith shop, a church, and a schoolhouse. In the 1970s and 80s farms were being sold to developers which spelled the end of Castlemore. The Castlemore name came back into use when the present day Castlemore neighbourhood was developed in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Castlemore is an upscale executive neighbourhood located in the north part of Brampton on the border with the Town of Caledon. The two main subdivisions within the neighbourhood are Castlemore Estates and the Vales of Castlemore. The entrance to this upscale residential enclave is surprisingly understated and discreet. However, once you enter the neighbourhood you are instantly awed by the size of the homes which are massive and are situated on gated estate lots that are well set back from the street. Castlemore’s pretty curvilinear street pattern meanders through gently undulating hills that are shaped by its natural setting within the West Humber River Valley.
