Program Description
This popular virtual class offers live online instruction with artist Andrew Sookrah as he works with artists of all levels to refine their technique in the style of their choice. Using three reference images provided, Andrew will lead the group through a framework of an effective creative process using live demonstrations in acrylics (with feedback for artists wishing to work in watercolors or oils) while providing individual feedback and guidance throughout that process. Topics covered include colour theory, composition, the use of light and tonal values in depicting form, perspective, patterns, texture, line and the use of depth and negative space. Techniques for rendering specific subjects will also be covered including buildings, the human form, rocks, reflections in water, skies and clouds, with special attention given to basic drawing techniques and building a repertoire of effective brushstrokes.
Level: Open to all skill levels. Our experienced instructor will adapt his teaching style to his students’ experience.
This class will be delivered via the video conferencing app Zoom.
