Smythe Park is sacred land. Carrying Place runs through it. For the first time in recent history Indigenous people are coming to clelbrate this. Anishnaabe Grandmother Waterkeeper Vivian Recollet will conduct water and tree blessings. There will be a ceremonial Oak tree planting. Smythe Park has suffered from urbanization; it is part of the worst flooded area in the GTA. Black Creek floods highly polluted water intor the park. Many trees have been lost and wildlife diminished. Vivian Recollet, drummers, dancers, and children are coming to help heal it. Everyone is encouraged to come and support their efforts.
