ECC will present a unique musical program with both global and local connections to wrap up our 2024-2025 season. The choir will begin by performing a variety of Indian music, both traditional and contemporary, in its authentic context of languages, instruments and performance styles, led by Hasheel Lodhia, renowned bansuri player and singer. The choir will share the stage with an Indian instrument orchestra including Ramona Sylvan on tabla; Dhruv Sodha on sitar and Nathan Khan on keyboard, along with singer. Anuja Panditrao. This concert marks the premiere of new choral music from the Toronto-based writing team of Henstra and Renglich. The choir is honoured to showcase these compositions by our Artistic Director, Henry Renglich and Sarah Henstra, a Governor General Award-winning author and fellow chorister. The choir will be accompanied in these new works by an ensemble of piano, flute, cello, clarinet and French horn. Soloists Mélissa Danis, soprano; David Finneran, bass; Hermione Goss, soprano; Lauren Halasz, alto; Pete Oundjian, tenor; Mikhail Shemet, baritone; Amanda Weatherall, alto and Adam Wicks, tenor.
