Blue Grass Meadows
History:
The Bluegrass Meadows subdivision was built in the early 1980s. A Whitby Free Press newspaper report from January 5, 1983 has a front page storey reporting how winds of 120 kilometres “huffed and puffed and blew two half-built homes down” in the Bluegrass Meadows subdivision. Adding that the storm created power failures with torn down trees and debris scattered throughout the neighbourhood.
Overview:
Blue Grass Meadows is located in the southeast section of Whitby. Highway 401 is situated just to the south making this neighbourhood an ideal choice for commuters. There are alot of shopping amenities in the Dundas and Thickson intersection. The tree-lined streets are gently winding and provide the perfect backdrop for the spacious lots that define this neighbourhood. There is alot of greenspace and parkland within this neighbourhood.
Homes:
The south end of the neighbourhood is experiencing alot of infill building as bungalows slowly give way to large new custom designed houses. The bulk of the neighbourhood consists of traditional houses house styles from the 1970s, 80s and 90s including bungalows and detached 2-storey homes as well as townhomes.
