West Shore
History:
West Shore located on the shores of Lake Ontario attracted European pioneers as early as the 1800s. The only surviving landmark from this era is the Nesbitt-Newman House located at 560 Park Crescent. This Georgian style stone farmhouse was built in the 1850s. It is listed on Pickering’s Municipal Heritage Register.
The present day neighbourhood began to take shape in the early 1900s with cottage style homes near the lake. The rest of the neighbourhood began to fill in during the 1960s when the first subdivisions were built.
