Pinecrest
History:
Pinecrest is located in what was originally known as East Whitby Township. In 1974 East Whitby Township became part of the City of Oshawa. Much of the development in this neighbourhood occurred in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Overview:
Pinecrest as its name suggests is situated on the crest of a hillside in the Harmony Creek Valley. This suburban neighbourhood has many amenities including schools, parks, and a shopping centre and movie theatre. The main landmark is the Harmony Creek Conservation area which is situated in the southeast part of the neighbourhood sharing a border with the Municipality of Clarington.
Lifestyle:
Grandview Street has a neighbourhood pub as well as medical offices.
Homes:
Pinecrest has a large number of affordable detached homes built in the styles popular in the 1990s and early 2000s. Many of these homes have a garage out in front of the house with a private drive. The detached homes at the north end of the neighbourhood are larger and more modern built in the 2010s. In addition to detached homes Pinecrest has a large number of townhouse enclaves that are ideal starter homes.
Recreation:
Harmony Valley Park located at 915 Grandview St. N., features a popular nature trail that is frequented by those who enjoy a nice walk or a brisk jog surrounded by nature The park also contains a popular off-leash area run by volunteers of the Oshawa Durham Area Walkers Group who care for and maintain the off-leash area
