History:
The Eastdale neighbourhood is named after Eastdale Collegiate founded in 1966.
Overview:
Eastdale as its name implies is located in the central east-end of Oshawa. The signature feature of the neighbourhood is the Harmony Creek valley which shapes the rolling hills and ravine like topography that define the look and feel of the neighbourhood. The Harmony Creek Trail connects many of the parks in the neighbourhood. Eastdale is a popular choice for families as it contains affordable homes, a community centre and a wide selection of schools.
Homes:
Eastdale’s housing stock dates to the 1970s and 80s. The detached two-storey homes have distinctive exteriors with brick on the bottom and frame siding on the top. There are a number of ranch-style homes and split-level homes that appeal to families. There are also clusters of townhomes in Easdale that are affordable for first time buyers.
Recreation:
Easton Park is a large greenspace within this neighbourhood that is popular for quiet activities like walking, yoga in the park and enjoying nature. There is also a children’s playground and a splashpad. Eastbourne Park is another local park that is enjoyed by residents. This park is part of the Harmony Creek Trail and follows the winding watercourse that provides a beautiful backdrop for the many activities that take place in this park ranging from walking to cycling.
