The Town of Orono is situated in the rural countryside, in the middle of The Municipality of Clarington. Orono has a country charm that includes an historic Main Street that is lined with quaint heritage buildings. Just off Main Street is the Orono Antique Market located in the old Armoury building. This is one of the largest antique markets in Southern Ontario. The Orono Fair held at the Orono Fairgrounds on Princess Street, was established in 1852, and is one of the oldest running fairs in Ontario. Orono Community Memorial Park also known as Buttercup Hollow is a cherished neighbourhood landmark set in the picturesque Wilmot Creek ravine valley.
Lifestyle:
Orono’s charming Main Street is lined with heritage buildings that are occupied by an eclectic mix of interesting small businesses. You will not find any chain stores here. Homes:
Orono houses come in a variety of shapes and sizes. They range from handsome red brick Victorian and Edwardian houses to charming frame sided cottage style bungalows. The vernacular styles are distinctly Ontario. Sprinkled in with these heritage homes are more contemporary ranch style bungalows and some new infill housing.
