      History:

      Salem Heights takes its name from Salem Road, the main north-south thoroughfare that runs through this neighbourhood. This part of Ajax underwent a dramatic transformation from rural countryside to residential subdivisions in the early 2000s right up to the present time of writing in 2019. The signature community here is Imagination developed by Tribute. This master planned community has a pedestrian friendly streetscape with homes that line quiet cul-de-sacs and crescents.

      Overview:

      Salem Heights is one of the newest neighbourhoods in Ajax. This spectacular new neighbourhood has it all including beautiful homes neatly arranged in enclave communities that include neighbourhood parks and schools. This neighbourhood is built for families with traffic calmed streets that include roundabouts and gentle speed bumps designed to remind cars to slow down. The wide streets are also designed to accommodate bicycle lanes. Neighbourhood landmarks include: Imagination Park and Somerset Plaza.

      Lifestyle:

      Somerset Plaza off Salem Road is a large shopping complex with big box stores including Metro, Shoppers Drug Mart, LCBO, a dental clinic, animal hospital and restaurants.

      Homes:

      Imagination is the name of this master planned community built by Tribute Homes. The goal was to build homes that would be in harmony with the natural surroundings of this neighbourhood. Mission accomplished. The traditional Georgian and Victorian architecture includes large detached homes and townhomes with handsome brick exteriors. Each home has a single or double car garage.

      Recreation:

      The nearby Audley Recreation Centre, better known as ARC, is a massive and ultra-modern state-of-the-art community centre that provides residents of this area with a myriad of indoor and outdoor recreational opportunities.

      Arts:

      The former St. Francis de Sales Church, appropriately situated on Church Street, is a Gothic Victorian architectural masterpiece that has been converted by the Town of Ajax into a multi-use community arts, cultural and performance centre now known as the St. Francis Centre. This beautiful venue hosts a myriad of arts events including: live theatre, film screenings, concerts, music recitals, workshops, art shows as well as private and public functions.
