History:
Lake Vista Gardens was one of the first planned subdivisions in Ajax. It was developed in the mid 1950s. This was just the second post war subdivision built in Ajax.
Overview:
Lake Vista Gardens is a charming family oriented neighbourhood located in the central part of Ajax near the downtown core. There is no lake here but the Ajax waterfront is just a few minutes south of here along Pickering Beach Road. Caruthers Creek forms a green corridor along the eastern boundary of this neighbourhood. Harwood Avenue forms the west boundary. This neighbourhood features leafy tree-lined streets that follow the natural contours of the land. Traffic calming measures including speed bumps and a designated right of ways for bicyclists.
Homes:
Lake Vista Gardens has a variety of houses to choose from including ranch-style bungalows, split-level homes, Colonial Revival houses and townhomes. Most houses have a private driveway with a built-in garage. The lots are spacious and the streets are tree-lined.
Arts:
The former St. Francis de Sales Church, appropriately situated on Church Street, is a Gothic Victorian architectural masterpiece that has been converted by the Town of Ajax into a multi-use community arts, cultural and performance centre now known as the St. Francis Centre. This beautiful venue hosts a myriad of arts events including: live theatre, film screenings, concerts, music recitals, workshops, art shows and private and public functions.
