Churchill Meadows
History:
Churchill Meadows was originally part of the Town of Oakville. In 1974 Churchill Meadows was incorporated into the new City of Mississauga. This neighbourhood was built as phase 4 in the massive Erin Mills development which covered most of what is now north and west Mississauga. The homes in Churchill Meadows were built mostly between 2000 and 2010.
Overview:
Churchill Meadows Residents Association is active in the community bringing awareness to any new developments that may impact the community and making sure residents are part of the discussion. This association maintains a Facebook page and hosts a Movie Night, Kite Fest, and an annual Neighbourhood Christmas Party.
Churchill Meadows is situated just north of Highway 403 and south of Brittania Road.The 407 highway runs along the western boundary of this neighbourhood and on the other side of the highway is Halton Region including the Towns of Oakville and Milton. Churchill Meadows would be considered an entry level neighbourhood for homebuyers.
Lifestyle:
Churchill Meadows is an affordable family oriented neighbourhood. This is suburban living but within a big City (Mississauga) and also within relatively easy access of Toronto and Oakville. All the modern conveniences are here including shopping, parks, public transit and a fine selection of schools.
Homes:
The housing stock in this neighbourhood includes subdivision style homes built in the 1980s and 1990s, ranging from townhomes to semi-detached and detached houses. The houses are family size but lots are generally on the small side. Every house has at least a single garage with many double car garages.
Recreation:
The Churchill Meadows Library and Activity Centre, functions as a community library, school library for St. Joan of Arc Secondary School and an Active Living Centre with a dedicated multi-purpose room, shared triple gymnasium and full-size dance studio. Recreation & Parks programming at the facility includes: fencing, yoga, tai chi, kickboxing, karate, skateboarding, volleyball, badminton, basketball, tennis, little tykes soccer, floor hockey and more.
