Raglan
History:
Raglan was originally called O’Boyle’s Corners and then Newton. When the local post office was opened in the 1850s the name was changed to Raglan possibly to avoid confusion with other places in Canada that may have been using the Newton name. The name Raglan was chosen in honour of Lord Raglan, a British commander in the Crimean War.
Overview:
Raglan is the northernmost neighbourhood in Oshawa. It shares its north boundary marker with the Township of Brock. This quaint rural hamlet contains just a few hundred homes . There is a pride of ownership among residents that is apparent in the neatly manicured lawns and the many houses that proudly display Canadian flags.
Lifestyle:
The White Feathers Country Store is a focal point of the community. This neighbourhood hub is where you will find everyday essential needs and groceries.
Homes:
The homes are mostly Ontario classics from the mid to late 1900s but there is some new construction going on here as well and lots of renovations as the homes all appear to be well maintained. Some of the pretty farms on the outskirts even have their own pond.
Recreation:
There is an abundance of golf courses, hiking trails, bicycle routes and ski hills nearby. Thompson Park is the home of the Vikings Rugby Club.
