The Township of Scugog is situated at the northeast boundary of the Greater Toronto Area. Geographically it is one of the largest municipalities in Durham Region; however, it has one of the smallest populations in the region with approximately 21,000 residents. Lake Scugog – which is one of Southern Ontario’s largest bodies of water – covers most of the northeast part of the Township. The landmark Scugog Island, is populated by year-round residents, and cottagers, and is also the home of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, a First Nations Reserve. Scugog’s vast countryside encompasses the rural hamlets of: Blackstock, Caesarea, Epsom, Greenbank, Nestleton, Manchester, Prince Albert, Seagrave and Utica. These farming communities support a myriad of businesses including: tree farms, nurseries, field crops, vineyards, dairy farms and beef farms.

- Lake Scugog is one of Southern Ontario’s largest bodies of water.
- “Scugog”, is a First Nations word meaning “marshy waters”. A wide shoreline, and marshy waters, made Scugog an ideal place for growing crops. Lake Scugog still has one of the largest natural wild rice beds in Ontario.
- Port Perry has one of the prettiest main streets in the GTA. It is lined with beautiful heritage buildings.
- The Hollywood film “Fly Away Home” was based on the life and work of Scugog artist, inventor and filmmaker Bill Lishman whose chronicles of Canadian geese migration captivated a worldwide audience.
