4th Wall: Making the Invisible Visible is hosted by the Michaëlle Jean Foundation in partnership with RISE and Luminato. Taking place in Scarborough on June 19, 2023, the 4th Wall aims to amplify the voices of young people who are often excluded from fully participating in society. Inspired by the visit of Little Amal, a 12-foot puppet symbolizing human rights and refugees, the program will feature young artists from RISE who introduce Amal to five stations of Hip Hop, each presenting artistic expressions on the themes of displacement and belonging.
Following Amal’s visit, a facilitated discussion will be hosted by the Michaëlle Jean Foundation, giving the young artists an opportunity to reflect on their performance with Amal, the themes of belonging and displacement, and share wisdom from their lived experiences. The discussions will be captured by a muralist, who will create a legacy artwork to be displayed publicly in the Scarborough community. The 4th Wall will culminate in a public event where the mural will be unveiled, featuring performances from the young artists of RISE Entertainment.
