Join Etobicoke Centennial Choir for the final concert of our 2022-23 season, as we explore the diverse music of our planet’s northern climes– lands of the mystical aurora borealis. Musica Borealis will feature a mix of traditional, classical and contemporary vocal music that evokes the landscapes and peoples of Canada, Scandinavia, Iceland, Latvia and Estonia – music steeped in the wonder of nature and the love of homeland. Experience the awe of witnessing the aurora borealis in Ēriks Ešenvalds’ hauntingly gorgeous and evocative Northern Lights for mixed choir, power chimes and water-tuned glasses. Songs by Edvard Grieg, Jean Sibelius, Toivo Kuula, Stephen Chatman, Donald Patriquin and others will span many moods and styles – peaceful and contemplative, bittersweet, charming and whimsical, soaring and inspirational – all culminating in an unabashedly stirring and joyous rendition of Paul Halley’s Song for Canada/Un Chant Canadien.
